  • Quality Poseidon or Neptune bust, this greek god statue is made by the traditional method of casting plaster. The Olympian god Poseidon was a powerful, temperamental, and secretive god. Never settling to be “second-best” to his brother Zeus, Poseidon often brooded and threw tantrums to garner respect from the other gods and mortals. Legends say he could often be spotted riding across the waves in a chariot pulled by hippocampus – half horse, half-fish creatures.

He was the Patron of underwater Creatures, Mermen and Mermaids and Cyclopes. His name in roman mythology is Neptune and his symbols the Horse and the Trident. He was the son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. Married to Ampritrite – the queen of the Ocean and sea goddess. Also fathered numerous children with other nymphs, mortals and goddesses including Aphrodite and Demeter. He had a great affinity for horses and other equestrian creatures as he was their original creator.
